	Education is the backbone of a nation. The significance of the value of education is well recognized in the Sri Lankan Education system. The Education Services Unit of the Ministry of Education is responsible for providing the system with necessary infrastructure facilities and the supply of textbooks and equipment to facilitate the process of Education.
	The Ministry of Education is entrusted with the massive responsibility of gifting a future generation endowed with wisdom and virtues to the nation. In the process of molding citizens embedded with independent thinking required for uplifting the whole nation and for overcoming the challenges of 21st century, Ministry of Education plays a vitalrole in implementing National Educational policies maintaining equity and quality.

	Mission
	Provide facilities and guidance to implement Educational policies efficiently and effectively to all institutions in the school Education system in the Northern Province to develop students with balanced personality.
	Objectives
To provide education facilities for all children of school going age and ensure i. Physical, mental, moral, cultural, and social growth ii. The development of appropriate knowledge attitude and skills. Access to Education Quality of Education Equity in Education Good Governance Increasing the rate of school enrolment and retention giving effect to the "Education for all" policy in Sri Lanka.
